# politic.design > A data gazette on US politics, published by Brantopic. Every figure carries a source and a content-hash receipt. Counts are preliminary until states certify (December 2026). ## The 2026 midterms, in data (5–6 Nov 2026) - Democrats won the 2026 House popular vote by 12 to 14 points (projected), the widest midterm margin for either party since 1974. - Democrats are projected to win 256 to 260 House seats; 43 seats flipped to Democrats and 2 to Republicans (CBS News list, 5 Nov). - Democrats flipped 7 Republican-held Senate seats: Texas, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Iowa, Kansas and Maine. Alaska and Mississippi were uncalled on 6 Nov. - Turnout was 48.8% of eligible voters, second only to 2018 among midterms in more than a century. - Under-30s swung 33 points toward Democrats (D+8 to D+41) but were 11% of voters, moving the national margin about 3.6 points; white voters (73% of voters) moved it about 8.8 points. - By voters' top issue, the state of democracy cost Republicans about 23.9 million net votes and immigration won them about 13.6 million (NBC News/SSRS exit poll). - Democrats flipped all 28 Republican-held House seats that Trump won by less than ten points in 2024; six of their eight gains in seats Trump won by 15 or more came in North Carolina and Texas, which had redrawn their maps. - All 254 Texas counties moved toward Democrats between the 2024 presidential and 2026 Senate votes; Starr County swung 72 points (Decision Desk HQ). - Among 2026 voters, Harris 2024 voters outnumbered Trump 2024 voters 49 to 44; that turnout gap was worth about six points of margin. ## Pages - [The 2026 midterms, in data](https://politic.design/midterms-2026/): five interactive stories, Brand Truth check of twelve media claims, methodology and sources. - [Methodology](https://politic.design/midterms-2026/#methodology) ## About this gazette - politic.design is a showcase made by Brantopic (https://brantopic.com/), a company-intelligence product in private build.
